Small Saves' "Goalie of the Month"

2 years ago Aidan Durnford of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, Canada couldn’t even stand up on skates..... but all he wanted to do was play nets.
He worked very hard and learned to skate however he always went to the net when scrimmages broke out. Last year he borrowed gear from the league and at age 7, made the Novice Advanced team! The coaches said there were more skilled goalies but none of them showed the passion, drive and willingness to listen and learn that Aidan had. It didn’t matter if there was 1 puck or 5 coming at him, he made every effort to stop them all.
As the year went on he continued to take the advice of his goalie coaches and would spend countless hours working on these drills at home. This year, at age 8, he re-claimed his spot on the Dartmouth Whalers Novice Advanced team and continues to grow as a goalie.
There has been several requests from teams to have Aidan as their goalie in different spring hockey leagues and we have decided to put him on the Eastern AAA Heat. However for Aidan, it could be an NHL team or the backyard rink, he just loves being a goalie.

Remember he is only 8 and this is just his 2nd season as a goalie. As a father I’m incredibly proud of my little boy and as a hockey fan, he’s just fun to watch.
