The next time you don the pads, look across the frozen battlefield. See that other
guardian? Truly a mirror image of you. Oh, sure, they may be of a different stature, or play another style...but they are
you...as you are they.
It's the love of this chosen position that's brought you to this moment in time.
In all the world, of all the places, this is the instance of which you simply cannot do without.
How did this burning desire to be a goalie start? Although each has their own
special story of origin, the results were the same. From the very instance mask and pads were put upon you, a transformation
formed. A goalie was born. Your heart told you there's no turning back. You became part of a very special family.
It's funny...as our lives roll onwards, our destiny is forever changing. But,
oh, that desire to be a netminder burns as steadily & brightly as the day you became a puckstopper in the ‘oh so
long ago’. To have the tools of your trade upon you as you apply the skill of your art. The feel of a puck tugging your
glove…the rebound stop that nobody thought anybody could save can suddenly make the world feel young again. Perhaps
the ice we stand upon is our own secret frozen fountain of youth.
When our time is over, new guardians will emerge to stand in that cherished spot
we once guarded & protected so valiantly. As we were inspired by goalies of the past, so shall we pass on the torch to
the next generation. We are a special breed…a breed apart…bearing our unique coat of arms…Goaltender.
